Initial Inspection at Fedima
The initial inspection at Fedima is a critical step in our retreading process, ensuring every tire meets our strict quality standards. Each casing undergoes a detailed internal and external assessment by our skilled technicians, employing advanced non-destructive testing, like shearography, to detect any hidden defects. This rigorous inspection ensures that only sound casings move forward, underscoring our commitment to safety, reliability, and superior performance.
In Fedima’s buffing stage, any residual tread is removed from the casing using a high-speed buffing machine. This machine grinds away the old tread and sidewall rubber, restoring the casing to its ideal dimensions while creating a textured surface essential for bonding with the new tread. Precision, computer-controlled machinery ensures each casing is buffed to exact specifications, primed for the next retreading stage.
Skiving at Fedima
During the skiving process at Fedima, superficial damage detected in the buffing stage is meticulously cleaned and repaired. Larger imperfections are filled and patched to restore the casing’s strength. A chemical solution is then applied to enhance adhesion of the new tread, ensuring the casing is clean, structurally sound, and ready for its renewed life.
Hot Retread Building at Fedima
In Fedima’s hot retread building process, various rubber compounds are precisely applied to the casing using advanced numerical control machines. This approach ensures the correct rubber quantity and precise construction for the new tread pattern. Material selection is tailored to the tire’s specific use, drawing on our extensive experience and trusted suppliers, ensuring each retreaded tire meets top quality and performance standards.
Hot Retread Vulcanization at Fedima
During hot retread vulcanization at Fedima, the prepared casing is placed into specialized molds for vulcanization, where heat and pressure are applied to achieve the desired tread pattern. The molds are carefully chosen to maintain uniformity and quality in the final product. This critical step bonds the new tread to the casing, producing a durable and reliable tire ready for extensive road use.
Final Inspection at Fedima
At Fedima, the final inspection guarantees that each retreaded tire meets our high standards for quality and performance. Following curing, each tire is examined to verify technical and aesthetic specifications. This includes a visual and tactile inspection to detect any imperfections in the tread or sidewalls, followed by an inflation test to 150 psi to identify structural weaknesses. A final shearography scan reveals minor separations or porosity invisible to the eye, ensuring that every tire leaving Fedima is ready to deliver reliable performance on the road.

Cold Retread Building at Fedima
In the cold retread building process, a pre-cured tread featuring a specially developed pattern and compound is carefully fitted onto the prepared casing. An uncured rubber layer is strategically applied between the casing and new tread, ensuring a strong bond during curing. Our skilled operators and computer-controlled equipment ensure precise application and uniformity, resulting in high-quality finishing and optimal performance for the retreaded tire.
Cold Retread Curing at Fedima
In the cold retread curing process, the tire undergoes a critical transformation, permanently bonding the new tread to the casing. The tire is placed in an airtight sleeve and subjected to precise temperature and pressure conditions, which converts the uncured rubber into a durable, elastic state. This meticulous process ensures the retreaded tire’s strength and longevity, maintaining a quality comparable to new tires.
